As part of an ongoing upgrade to the NHS Trust, a substantial former accommodation block, and education block were removed to make way for a follow-on construction phase.

Working on a live NHS Trust site, and at the time of the COVID pandemic, posed many logistical challenges, Tilley and Barrett constructed external ramps to access the site and avoid the main entrance that was in constant use. Given the sites location and use, environmental control was also required at the highest level, we located six dust, noise, and vibration units – in agreement with the section 61 – and constantly monitored our works. A selection of high reach demolition excavators and standard demolition excavators saw the buildings reduced, and removed from site within a concentrated ten-week program.
