Tilley & Barret was appointed by Jackson & Coles to provide a wide range of services in the demolition of multiple buildings on Grosvenor Street, in the heart of London. These services included the general site set-up, soft strip, a facade retention scheme, the installation of a truss to the party walls, the demolition of the existing structure excluding the front facade, making good works to party walls, waterproofing, the removal of the lower ground slab, the installation of pre-cast wall to the lower ground floor.
Being in Mayfair, the delicate site was both complex and logistically challenging, the structural demolition was performed by both machine and hand. The existing truss to the party walls within the old building, where the floor and ceiling levels didn’t match up, spanned across three separate buildings. To mitigate this, the demolition was completed around them.
The project was delivered successfully in 2018.
